Minimum Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or a closely related field and 2 to 4 years’ experience in marketing/social media management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

This position requires effective and professional oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, intermediate to advanced computer literacy and intermediate to advanced knowledge in graphic design. The incumbent must be detail oriented; have the ability to work within tight deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; be highly motivated and able to work independently.
 Knowledge of media used in public relation and marketing.
 Knowledge of the principles and practices of county government organization and administration.
 Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency: Outlook, Excel, Word, Photoshop,
 Intermediate to advanced proficiency: Adobe InDesign and Canva,
 Moderate to intermediate proficiency in video creation and applications for social media.
 Intermediate to advanced proficiency in social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Tiktok.
 Ability to produce written documents using proper sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar, journalistic principals, and techniques of composition, layout and editing marketing materials.
 Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends and shifts related to social media.
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, elected officials, employees, media representatives, outside marketing professionals and the public.
 Ability to verbally communicate clearly and concisely and work cooperatively with other employees, other government entities, the media, and the public by telephone, in a one-to-one, face-to-face setting, electronic communication and in a group setting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Incumbent must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Incumbent must possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Incumbent must possess the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Incumbent must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Incumbent must possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid Tennessee driver’s license, personal auto, Tennessee required auto insurance and safe driving record are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. Job Description

Collaborates with Communications Director and County Leadership to understand communication needs of Montgomery County Government. Proposes and implements marketing strategies and track effectiveness of marketing activities through social and online media, print media, and other multimedia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 Create content that will drive traffic from social media to the organization’s web site, consistently increases followers and generates engagement;
 Demonstrate proficiency in an array of creative tools to create video, image and text-based content;
 Analyzes social media content to determine the information that draws and engages the public for the purpose of providing the information the public is seeking;
 Identify key audiences and develop marketing plans to engage the public;
 Use marketing to highlight and market the services of county government;
 Identify opportunities to share the stories of county government changes, successes and highlights;
 Design, write, and edit special and periodic reports, articles, and news releases for publications, periodicals;
 Use social media, design and video to promote county activities and services;
 Develop innovative approaches to promoting a positive image of Montgomery County;
 Develop promotional graphics and video for various county owned venues;
 Respond to public inquiries through social media and otherwise as needed;
 Promote and coordinate promotional and ceremonial county events, public activities to ensure broad exposure of the events;
 Strive to improve and increase awareness of Montgomery County brand;
 Build and manage social media campaigns;
 Attend and present at meetings when necessary;
 Limited travel as required.
 Serves on various committees as appointed
