Minimum Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of six years experience in higher education records/records administration.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state laws, in particular FERPA and mandates pertaining to enrollment and student records and to institutional compliance, including knowledge of best practices, current trends and issues in higher education pertaining to academic records.
-Technology background with experience in some or all of the following areas: student information systems, WEB registration and imaging.
-Strong communication skills.
- Experience supervising employees and creating an effective team.

Job Description

The Registrar will be responsible for the collection of grades, maintenance of academic student records, transfer evaluations, review and certification of degree requirements and graduation, facilitation of commencement ceremony and assists with the registration process. Other responsibilities include supervision of office personnel, student information system development, university reporting, athletic eligibility and committee representation and bulletin preparation. Responsible for the oversight of FERPA compliance in regards to student academic records.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing and managing registrations, to include Govs ROW (registration, orientation and welcome), summer registrations and Ft. Campbell.
  • Responsible for the overall oversight of the class schedule and classroom assignments; preparation of the Schedule of Classes for each semester/term; circulation of forms and information regarding the process; establishing schedules and methodology; identifying site and equipment needs for staff during registration; the preparation of THEC report files; cancellation of students as notified; and coding of registrants as appropriate for supplemental reporting; FERPA compliance and training.
  • Direct and manage office functions. Supervise employees with tasks that include grade reporting, degree certifications, athletic certifications and verifications, transfer credit evaluations, transcripts, AP OneStop applications, academic records, reception lobby, GoArmyEd and other related areas.
  • Conduct personnel matters including hiring and evaluation, oversee budget, develop office goals and objectives, lead regular bi-weekly staff meetings.
  • Continually review baseline and self service Banner and AP OneStop to develop modifications to enhance services to faculty, staff and the campus community. Collaborate with faculty on enhancements to AP OneStop and Banner.
  • Participate in meetings with Enrollment Management, Orientation/Registration, Academic Council, Graduate and Research Council, Student Academic Suspension Appeals Committee, Residency Committee, Commencement, Tennessee Board of Regents, ad hoc Registration and Admissions, and other committees as appropriate.
  • Respond daily to questions by students, faculty, and staff and general troubleshooting to resolve student problems. Respond to academic department questions to resolve problems or issues encountered with academic policies or program requirements.
  • Review, determine and prepare NCAA athletic eligibility and certification. Oversees the eligibility certification process for student-athletes as prescribed by NCAA and OVC rules.
  • Coordinate the preparation, editing and production of the University Undergraduate Bulletin.
