JOB SUMMARY: The Splash Pad Attendants are responsible for performing general maintenance duties at the City’s splash pads. The attendant will be under the general supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator.

 

***PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION THAT REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO DRIVE. THIS POSITION WILLO REMAIN OPEN THROUGH APRIL 18, 2022, OR UNTIL FILLED.***

 

Example of Duties

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary).

  • Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe environment and safe water chemistry levels for the health and safety of patrons.
  • Monitors and inspects the facility and equipment and submits work order requests as needed.
  • Ensures the enforcement of all facility rules by the patrons and responds quickly and effectively to emergencies.
  • Responds to requests and inquiries from the public and submits them to the aquatic superintendent.
  • Uses recreation software to prepare various records and reports to include incident reports, chemical logs, patron attendance, and supply inventory.
  • Must be courteous with the public and co-workers at all times.
  • Must be able to work together as a team with other Aquatic Staff and other departments.
  • Performs a high level of customer service and ensures a positive customer experience.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor, including abiding by uniform requirements.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):

Licensing Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must have the ability to use a computer/tablet.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and effectively enforce rules.
  • Must be able to maintain courteous and helpful working relationships with the public of all ages.
  • Must be able to work effectively under direct or indirect supervision.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor(s).
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance counts of the patrons.
  • Able to perform basic first aid and CPR when necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting, usually 50 pounds or less.
  • Must be able to respond to situations quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to stand or sit while looking, listening, and speaking with patrons and guests while monitoring the aquatic facility.
  • Must be able to push/pull broom and water hoses and handle equipment if needed.
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, and climb.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work with little to no temperature control and is routinely exposed to various chemicals (i.e., chlorine, muriatic acid, cleaning materials, and disinfectants.) Exposed to extreme heat, humidity, and works on uneven or slippery surfaces, and is periodically exposed to hazardous conditions/situations.

Incumbents may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Must be available the entire summer season (May-early September).
