CLASS SUMMARY:
This is the first of seven levels in the Transportation series. Incumbents transport customers in a large passenger vehicle. Responsibilities may include driving a large bus or van on an assigned route; inspecting assigned vehicle for cleanliness and safety; performing routine, minor vehicle maintenance; selling tickets and collecting fares; and maintaining records of activities.

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Drives a bus for the purpose of transporting riders to applicable locations, including special events.
- Performs pre- and post bus inspection activities to identify maintenance needs.
- Performs routine cleaning activities.
- Sells tickets and collects fares.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of operational records and reports.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
