Job Title: Quality Inspection Operator
Department: America QA
Shift: Nights 545pm-6am or Days 545am-6pm, 2-2-3 fixed schedule (Shift placement will be based on position availability)
Direct Report: Inspection Group Leader
Compensation: Starting range for qualified candidates is $15.00-$19.00/hr dependent on prior experience in a manufacturing environment with performance based step increases up to $21.65 top out (including $2.00/hr night-shift premium) in as early as 6-15 months.
About the Quality Inspection Operator position
We are looking for a Quality Inspection Operator who will be a firm advocate of quality in our business, making our customers enjoy our merchandise so that our company can achieve long-term success. Your duties will include quality inspections of tires and handle product and process nonconformities.
You should possess a trained eye for detail, be reliable and committed. In depth knowledge and excellent comprehension of quality standards are also required.
Quality Inspection Operator responsibilities are:
- Check tires by sight and touch; correct minor nonconformities on the spot
- Inspect tires with the use of equipment and machines
- Include inspection stamps on the surface of tires
- Cut off small excess materials from the tread, bead, and sidewall of tires
- Send defective tires to the Rework Unit or other competent production lines
- Provide other Units or Departments feedback on nonconformities detected through inspection
- Keep record of defective tires in the system
- Document and enforce quality standards
- Separate defective tires and immediately report to the Line Leader in case of product and/or process nonconformities
- Support the improvement of work environment and keep the work area clean
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Quality Inspection Operator requirements are:
Education:
- (Required) Equivalent combination of education and experience
- (Preferred) High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience:
- (Preferred) 1 year manufacturing experience
- (Preferred) Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Good command of written and spoken English
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; to reach with hands and arms; and to talk and hear
- Must be capable of climbing up and down a ladder/stairs several times per shift
- Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
- Mobility throughout the facility
- Employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, walk, or crouch
- Employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted on occasion
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus
